Frequently Asked Questions about the New Moodle Sites
דרישות השלמת קורס
Q: Why was it decided to change the way the moodle sites are managed starting in 2022-2023 academic year and to open new sites every year?
- There are many advantages to maintaining the history and archive of the moodle sites.
- For teaching staff:
- Preparing course sites for the upcoming academic year, without affecting the previous year's sites.
- No need to clean and reset the sites for the new year.
- Access to all courses that the lecturer has taught in recent years.
- Saving different versions of the course sites and learning and teaching methods (frontal, online, hybrid learning, etc.).
- Easy copying of content between different sites owned by the lecturer.
- Availability of student data (grades, submissions, discussions, etc.) several years back.
- Avoiding conflicts between content from different lecturers (for example, different lecturers teaching the same course in different years).
- For learners:
-
- Access to all course materials taught in recent years.
- Ability to view submissions, grades, and activity history throughout years.
- Clear separation between websites of different academic years.
- Access only to relevant websites.
Q: Who will be able to access the course websites of previous years?
- Teaching staff who were active in that same semester and had permissions on the website
- Students who studied the course in the same semester and had access to the website at the end of the semester
- Lecturers, practitioners, free listeners and others that the teaching staff chooses to add to the website on a proactive basis
Q: What if a lecturer does not want to leave some of the content exposed after the end of the semester?
- All websites, including those of previous years, are under the full control of the course team. Lecturers/practitioners can hide and/or delete content according to their needs and decision.
Q: Why is the default to create empty websites and not duplicate existing websites and allow those who are not interested in previous content to delete it?
- We do not always know what to duplicate. A lecturer may prefer a copy from the last semester of the same course, or from a corresponding semester in a previous year. Sometimes the lecturer prefers to duplicate another course's website because its content is more relevant. Sometimes the teaching staff wants to combine parts of websites from different semesters and/or only certain units.
- Sometimes lecturers and/or the teaching format of the course and/or the teaching semester change, and thus last year's content is no longer relevant.
- Deleting a large amount of content on a moodle website is more complex for the user than copying it using the dedicated wizard, which performs a copy with one "click".
Q: Unfortunately, I don't have time to handle copying the content. Who can do the copying for me?
- Anyone who is defined as a "teacher" or "practitioner" on the course website can do the copying. Please use the teaching staff (additional lecturers, practitioners, teaching assistants, etc.)
- If you are unable to use a member of staff - you are welcome to contact us and we will handle all requests as soon as possible.
